This policy explains what Grammar Simplified collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be impenetrable, and it describes what this site actually does — not a generic template.

The short version

• You can read every guide on this site without giving us anything.
• We do not ask you to register, and we do not run a mailing list.
• We use Google Analytics to see which guides get read.
• We intend to show advertising supplied by Google, which uses cookies.
• If you email us or use the contact form, we keep the message so we can reply to it.
• We do not sell your personal information to anybody.

Who runs this site

Grammar Simplified publishes guides about English adjectives and usage at grammarsimplified.com. For any question about this policy, or to exercise any of the rights described below, contact admin@grammarsimplified.com or use the contact page.

What we collect

When you just read

Reading a guide requires no account and no personal details. Our hosting provider records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time — which exist for security and diagnostics and are not used to build a profile of you.

When you contact us

The contact form collects your name, email address and message. We use them to reply and nothing else. We do not add correspondents to any list, and we do not pass details to third parties. A spam-filtering check runs on submissions to block automated messages.

When you comment

If commenting is enabled on a guide, WordPress stores the name, email address and comment you submit, along with your IP address. Your email address is not published. Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely so that follow-up replies can be recognised.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which guides are read, how visitors arrive, and roughly where in the world they are. This tells us what to write next. It uses cookies and collects a device identifier along with usage data.

Google processes this data on our behalf. Their practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising

This site is free to read and is funded by advertising. We intend to display advertising served by Google AdSense.

What that means in practice:

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You may opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.
• Third-party advertisers may also place cookies. We do not control those cookies and cannot access the data they collect.

Advertising has no influence on what we publish. There are no sponsored guides, no paid links, and no advance sight of content for advertisers. That commitment is set out in our editorial policy.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This site involves three kinds:

• Necessary — set by WordPress for basic operation, and only if you comment or log in.
• Analytics — set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors and sessions.
• Advertising — set by Google and its advertising partners.

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything on this site.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK

Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how it is processed, and to receive it in a portable form. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Our legal bases for processing are legitimate interest for server logs and site security, and consent for analytics and advertising cookies, which you may withdraw at any time through your browser settings or the opt-out links above.

To exercise any of these rights, email admin@grammarsimplified.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are in California

Under the CCPA you have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, to request deletion of personal information collected from you, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We do not sell your personal information, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months. To make a request, email admin@grammarsimplified.com.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep things

• Contact messages — kept while a conversation is useful, then deleted.
• Comments — retained indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them.
• Server logs — retained by our host for a limited period for security purposes.
• Analytics data — retained according to Google’s own retention settings.

Links to other sites

Guides sometimes link to dictionaries, style guides and other references. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this one does not cover them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page rather than made quietly.
